Greece Attractions Open ancient city of Akrotiri on the island of Santorini. This attraction was closed for seven years after the roof collapsed, killing a British tourist.

Known as the "Pompeii of the Aegean" and historic city of Akrotiri was in a thick layer of volcanic ash from the eruption of 3700 years, which destroyed the Minoan civilization buried in that city.

This site was closed in 2005 after the roof collapsed, killing a British tourist. Now the site of Akrotiri, a new steel roof was added.
